feeding Elliot

Gary got to feed Elliot last night! I pumped some breastmilk yesterday evening, and an hour or so later Gary successfully fed it to Elliot in a bottle. We're both very excited about this, partly because Gary has been wanting to feed Elliot for weeks, and because this means we now have a lot more freedom. I can go out for a few hours and know that Gary won't be stuck with a hungry baby, or we can both go out and leave Elliot at home, assuming we find a sitter.

Elliot had a perplexed look on his face the entire time Gary was feeding him. He was probably somewhat annoyed; we could imagine him thinking, "Hey dad, you've been holding out on me for weeks...what's up with that?" But, he drank the entire bottle and seemed quite satisfied afterwards.

So far my plan is to pump two bottles a day, and have Gary feed him one or both of them that same day. I have to research options for freezing milk so I can start saving up for when I start work. Breastmilk is good for about 4 hours at room temperature, 48 hours in the fridge, or 3 months in the freezer. I am using a manual pump for now, but I plan to buy an electric pump to speed things up (it currently takes me about 10 minutes to get one bottle, 2 to 3 ounces, of milk).
