name that baby!

The SSA has released its 2006 popular baby names list on its website.

No hints, but I will say that none of the names on our short list are in the top 10.

It's a good thing you finally came up with a short list! Is the name in the top 1,000?

Diana swears they wouldn't let her leave the hospital untl they gave Alice a middle name.

Don't you think Samantha Snethen has a certain something? You could call her Tha-Tha for short.

All of the names on our short list are in the top 1000, none of them start or end with the letter S, and one of them is not Tiffany.

One of them's not Tiffany? Or do you mean that Tiffany's not one of them? Because if one of them's not Tiffany, plenty of others could be.

So now I have to go through that list of 1,000 names to guess! Or I could just wait a few days, but then I'd have to do something productive right now.

Also. you don't say whether it's the 2006 top thousand. So the names could include Josephine, Blanche and Winifred (my grandmother and her sisters), all of which were popular around 1900 and none of which, you'll note, begins or ends with S.

So that rules out Agnes, Dolores and Mercedes. Getting closer!

Number 54 is Brooklyn. You're not going to name her that, are you? I think Staten Island is better for a girl, anyway.

Wow, that list has some great names. Justice, Destiny, Destinee, Hope, Patience, Essence, Precious, Princess (Now's your chance to name someone that!), -- oh, I see Lucille. That was Josephine's other sister. Also B. B. King's guitar. Summer, Serenity -- I'm betting it's not any of those. Well, you said no initial or ending S's. Also, I'll bet the stress is on the first syllable (or second, if it's a three-syllable name), such as Fosterette.

I really should be doing other things just now, such as maybe looking for a job.
