pictures from July

A few pictures from our Fourth of July trip to Willits.

We spent the long weekend in and near the town of Willits, up in Mendocino County. The air quality was terrible the first day, but got better towards the weekend. The first day we spent at the beach; we had a picnic lunch and took turns floating around in a rubber dinghy.

The next day was Independence Day. We watched the parade in Willits in the morning, then headed to the nearby town of Lakeport for dinner and fireworks on the lake. Both kids stayed awake for the show, and neither was scared!

The next day we went back to Lakeport (which was on our way back home) and spent the afternoon hanging out by the lake. We rented a jet-ski for a couple of hours, but I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Then we headed back to Napa, spent the night there, and drove the rest of the way home on Sunday. Everything we brought with us smelled of smoke, ocean, or lake, and a lot of it was damp, too. Gary says this is the sign of a successful vacation.
