Up and up

Gas prices are going up in the Bay Area. I saw premium gas at $2.75 a gallon in Millbrae this afternoon.

My car (a Honda Civic Hybrid) is getting just under 50 miles per gallon. I haven't calculated the exact mileage lately, but that's what it was at a few months ago.

$3 a gallon? Bring it on!

agapanthus

Our agapanthus in the backyard started blooming a few days ago. Time to start planting tomatoes.... I'd do it today, but it looks like it will be cool and damp all morning, and we're going to a friend's house this afternoon.

NSA

This morning's traffic report on KQED radio was brought to us by the National Security Agency. Weird.

Spring Cleaning

Gary and I have done about a million things over the last month. We had a party for my birthday, we went to see the Belle and Sebastian concert in SF, we went to Yosemite, and this past weekend we hung out with friends and watched movies. We probably did a lot of other stuff, too.

This Friday we invited several friends to go watch Bon Voyage, a French movie that takes place right before the German occupation of France. Afterwards we went out for Thai food, while one of the guys and Gary convinced the rest of us to go to the midnight showing of A Clockwork Orange. I hadn't planned on going, but I figure since I was already so close to the theater, why not. We headed back to Crystal Dynamics (Gary's workplace), picked up gellatos on the way, and played a few rounds of foosball (I suck at foosball, btw.) Then we headed back to the theater for the next movie. I liked Bon Voyage a lot better!

Saturday our friends John and Eva came over with their 2 kids for a late lunch. In the end we went to Fry's and I spent too much money on movies and records. On Sunday Gary worked and I recovered from all the socializing. I packed away the rest of my winter clothes, unpacked my summer clothes, and filled a garbage bag with clothing destined for Goodwill. I'll have to bring it over there next weekend. This year alone I think I have filled up 3 large bags to get rid of, which amazes me because I certainly haven't bought that much stuff!
